A lovely, fortified, 18th century hilltop château in South West France.
Very upmarket, with gorgeous food and a splendid dining room which has the choicest views. The elegant bedrooms spread out around the courtyard like a Roman fort, and all around the garden there are beds of roses and lavender. The countryside is filled with vines, this is some of the very best wine country in South West France.
What can you do besides relax and eat?
Take to the water with a canoe on the river Dordogne, spend the day in one of the most prestigious wine producing villages in France, St Emilion, where there are lovely buildings as well as fantastic Bordeaux wine. Buy a ticket for the train to Sarlat and visit the medieval city. Cycle through the gently rolling countryside spotting butterflies and wild flowers. Admire the rows of vegetables growing in cottage gardens. Plan a picnic and a local market meander.
