food and a splendid dining room which has the choicest views. The elegant
bedrooms spread out around the courtyard like a Roman fort, and all around
the garden there are beds of roses and lavender. The countryside is filled

What can you do besides relax and eat? Take to the
water with a canoe on the river Dordogne, spend the day in one of the
most prestigious wine producing villages in France, St Emilion, where
there are lovely buildings as well as fantastic Bordeaux wines, buy a
ticket for the train to Sarlat and visit the medieval city, cycle through
the gently rolling countryside spotting butterflies and wild flowers,
admire the rows of vegetables growing in cottage gardens, plan a picnic
